DALNESS

See page 185 of the Scottish Guidebook.

Drive down the Etive until a bridge across the river. Keep going until the road pulls away from the Etive and round a tight right-hand bend. Park (with care).

Depends on personal preference. Some run this really low, but we've run it when the Etive was high and the burns were full.

A nice set of waterfalls clost to Dalness House. The main drop isn't particularly high, but the consequences of getting it wrong are nasty. The lead-in drops are great fun, although there are a couple of sticky holes. If you do it high enough, it gets pretty gnarly!

The major fall is approx 20ft high, but isn't particularly simple. A rock ledge prevents a line off the left, but a very nasty undercut on the right means that a central boof is the only option. In lower levels the pool would be slower, but ee had quite a bit of difficulty with this undercut in high water levels...........

Watch out for the landowner; he's not particularly kayak-friendly.
